You have signed up for your charity running event and fundraising is on target, running kit is good to go and the only task left is to continue training and then wham – we are hit with a HEATWAVE! We all know your training for your charity event must continue. With. Out. Fail. NO EXCUSES – so here are the top 5 tips to charity running in extreme heat. 1. Get out early, The best time to run is early morning between 5.30am & 7am when the day promises extreme heat.   More spefically the hottest part of the day across the globe is between 11am – 3pm, so avoid running outdoors at this time like the plague. 2. Prepare training routes that offer shade. Look out for running trails, woodland areas or parks that come complete with lovely shady trees. For first time charity runners that have taken the massive step to signing up for a longer distance charity event including ultra marathons for charity or marathons for charity, long distance running can be a lonely sport, however this doesn’t have to be the case. Find yourself a charity running crew. Having a charity running crew can improve your performance, and also a whole load more motivation,   purpose and enjoyment to your charity running event. Choose your crew wisely,   do you like jokes, find a town clown (who can run) and you can push that much closer to your limits when you are feeling low. Your charity running crew may or may not actually participate in your final charity event and if they don’t make good use of them as spectators on race day. Also if they are unable to train with you, what’s not to stop them just handing out sugary sweets and recording your lap times, they can also provide support& encouragement when training is done.   Over time your friends
