VIRGIN MONEY GIVING VS JUST GIVING

If you are planning to run for charity in 2019 chances are you'll either use Virgin money giving or Just Giving to help you collect fundraising money.  Virgin Money Giving opened in 2009 as a main competitor for the popular Just Giving site, as a secure online way for fundraisers to collect sponsorship. Sites like these have made donating to friends and colleagues, collecting the money and then passing it on to the charity much easier. The sites also allow gift aid to be added, giving the charities a much needed boost and allowing us the satisfaction of taking some money back from the taxman. CHARITY RUNNING: HOW TO SECURE YOUR PLACE IN 2019

If you are looking to run for charity in 2019 you are spolit for choice. The UK plays host to some of the most thrilling, high-profile running events in the world, drawing runners from all over to tread our sporting streets. All this excitement can breed frustration, however, when the number of people wanting to run in an event outstrips the number of places available. Many of the larger and oversubscribed events, like the London Marathon and Great North Run, have brought in a ballot-style system to deal with the issue. This allows participants to sign up and register their interest for the event. Registered runners will then be randomly selected on a chosen day, a bit like a lottery, until the event organisers hit their maximum capacity for the race. Losing out to this lottery can be a real blow – but there is a fantastic solution for charity running places. If you’re not already aware, many events up and down the country run their own charity places programmers.

Some run for a cause they care about, or that is close to their heart. Others run in remembrance for a loved one or friend who was supported by a charity’s good work. Then, let’s face it, some of us run because we want to lose weight, and need an extra, positive push to get us off that couch! Running for a charity is a fantastic motivator for getting healthy and avoiding the beer and chocolates. But whatever your reason, running for a charity is an amazing thing to do, and should definitely be on your bucket list. Did you know there are now over 160,000 registered charities and foundations in the UK? They come in all shapes and sizes, from those with thousands of staff to the one-man bands working out of their bedroom. And all of them are amazingly special.
